In May 2025, Agenc was tasked with bringing The New York Times to Newfronts, in the very lobby and auditorium of their namesake building. With only six weeks until showtime, the team assembled and got busy! On the docket of things to do was design a killer stage, five activation touch points that found home in the lobby, a coffee bar, check in area, and various swag giveaways. These five lobby touch points were based around five key segments of The New York Times - News, Cooking, Games, the Athletic, and Wirecutter - and they each needed to be eye catching, interactive, unique to their essence, and still cohesive with the other four. In order to achieve this, we focused on simple and sleek booth geometries that were doused in the main color of each segment. The stage design was inspired by the different times of day people open their NYT app, with gradients reflective of morning, noon, and evening. In a rare instance the stage did not waver too far from the design it had in the rfp. My main areas of focus were designing and rendering the registration area, the coffee booth, News booth, Cooking booth, communicating closely with the fabrication team, and sourcing many decor and furniture elements.
